How to Measure Glasses Size

When shopping for glasses online, it's important to find frames that fit perfectly. Fortunately, discovering your ideal frame size is simple and straightforward.

Find your frame dimensions

To find your ideal measurements, grab a pair of glasses that fits you well. Look for numbers on the inside of the temple arm, which indicate the lens width, bridge width, and temple arm length. The frame width, the most crucial measurement, won’t be listed there, but you can easily measure it using the guide below.

  • Frame Width

Measure the frame width from hinge to hinge.

  • Lens Width

Measure the lens width at its widest point.

  • Lens Height

Measure the lens height at its highest point. For bifocals or progressives, it should be at least 30 mm.

  • Bridge

Measure the distance between the lenses at their closest point. For the bridge width, aim for a measurement that is within 2 mm above or below that value.

  • Temple Arm

Measure from the hinge to the bend, then from the bend to the end of the temple arm. Combine these two measurements to get the total length of the temple arm.

  • Perfect Fit

Your frames will fit well if you stay within 2-3 mm above or below the total measurement.
